Ernie Sullins began his business in 1972. A small store front on Pendelton Street in Marion, Virginia, selling discounted jeans for the working man (and woman). Over the years Mr. Sullins bought samples, closeouts, and irregular garments from manufacturers throughout the country and offered them to the consumer at far below retail prices. He owned and operated stores in Welch, WV, Woodbridge, VA, and Marion, VA, as well as taking truckloads of his discounted clothing out to the public. He was one of the first clothing retailers who began offering his garments at outlet prices. Soon thereafter, he became one of the largest discount jean retailers in the United States selling children's, women's, and men's clothing, and hard to find sizes not offered at other retail locations. In the late 1980's he purchased a store front in Abingdon, VA, (which is still in operation today). In 2011 he renovated and opened our Commerce Street location which is the home to Ernie Sullins Clothing and ErnieSullinsClothing.com. In December, 2012, Mr. Sullins was awarded the prestigious 2012 Business Of The Year Award by the Chamber of Commerce for his renovation and beautification of the Commerce Street location.
Mr. Sullins and his wife, Carol, still own and operate the family business and on any given day, Ernie can be found at one of his retail locations fitting people with jeans, shirts, suits, or tuxedos. In what little spare time he has, Ernie travels throughout the United States meeting with clothing manufacturers, clothing representatives, purchasing garments for his retail and online locations. In addition, we have a full-time staff that sorts, grades, and separates clothing in our 10,000 plus square foot warehouse to then be offered to the public at below outlet prices.
Ernie and Carol are proud to be celebrating 42 years selling discounted clothing to the public at far below outlet prices.
